Jon Cook – Director of Basketball
Jon Cook brings a wealth of basketball experience to his position as Director of Basketball for Gunners Elite. Jon is currently in his 2nd year as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Ohio Northern University. He was also an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Bluffton University for three seasons. In 1993, he was a student coach for Ohio Northern Men’s Basketball when they won the National Championship. He also has high school coaching experience as he was the Head Coach of Boys Basketball at Ada, Allen East and Jackson Center. Jon is excited to help take Gunners Elite to the next level as the Director.
Heath Geyer – Boys 17U Coach
Heath is 22 years old. He graduated from Botkins High School. He has been coaching basketball for two years at the junior high level at Botkins. Heath also coached the summer varsity team at Botkins for a year. He played one year at OSU-Lima and was named all conference. He played three years varsity basketball at Botkins. Heath currently runs a family dairy farm along with his aunt and father. Heath is enthusiastic to get better as a coach. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and love for the game improving his players’ and his team’s performance.
Josh Schwartz – Boys 15U Coach
Josh started his coaching career last summer when he coached the Botkins Varsity AYBT team. He has been involved in player development ever since he was in high school though. During the summertime when he was in high school, he would help with the Botkins Youth Summer Camp which involved grades 1 through 8. He did that for four years.
As a player in high school he was player of the year runner up for the conference as a senior. Josh would then take his career to the college level. He started at the college of Mount Saint Joseph. He then transferred to play at Ohio State Lima regional campus where he has been the captain for 2 years and was honorable mention all-conference his sophomore year. He is also studying Business Management and will be graduating with a Bachelors from Ohio State in May of 2018. As a message from a player/coach who’s playing years are coming to a close, “These years are some of the best years of your life and for some of you this game has the opportunity to help you pay for college if not go even further than that. Whatever it is that you want to do, whatever your dreams are chase them. You need to take this opportunity you have been given to make sure you get better. Let’s compete and get better this summer but more importantly have fun!”
Kristian Boltenhouse – Boys 12U Coach
Kristian Boltenhouse is the coach of the boys 12u team. Kristian graduated from Chillicothe High School last year. He is now attending the University of Northwestern Ohio, where he is majoring in Automotive and Alternative Fuels Technology. Kristian has been around the game for most of his life. In high school he was awarded 2x All-District, 2x All-League and a Team Captain his senior year. Kristian has helped in numerous camps and assisting them. This is his first year with the Gunners Elite program. He is also very excited to help further develop the players on his team and start his coaching career.
Madison Dackin – Girls 14U Coach
Jess Vorst – Girls 11U Coach
Jessica has been coaching basketball for 6 years. She has developed skills at a variety of levels of athletes. Her first year coaching, she was a high school assistant for the girls’ basketball team at Perry High School. The following year she was hired to coach at her Alma mater Bath Schools. Here she was an 8th grade coach. The next year, Jessica followed her teaching job at Shawnee Schools and was hired as the Junior Varsity girls coach. She held this position for three years and last year chose to coach a traveling team of 5th and 6th grade girls from Shawnee Middle School.
Jessica played basketball in college for The University of Findlay. During her four years as a varsity athlete, she was a starter for three, was a captain for one, and received conference awards her junior and senior years. Her team appeared in the NCAA DII tournament in 2010 and made it past the first round. That same year, the shared the conference title.
In the 6 years of coaching, Jessica has been involved in volleyball, cross country, and track, as well. Currently, she is an assistant cross country and an assistant track and field coach for Shawnee High School. Also, she started the youth track and field program at Shawnee. These K-6 athletes have been competing for three years in this program.
